I’ve studied with Professor Guerrero for a year now and found his teaching to be quite helpful to my growth as a jazz pianist. We’ve worked on building my repertoire, my jazz vocabulary, and my musical voice through tunes, scales, exercises, transcriptions, voicings, and many other practices.

Having studied with Gabriel for about a year now, it is clear that he’s not only an incredibly skilled musician but also a kind, thoughtful, and effective teacher.

Gabriel’s emphasis on musicality and creativity makes our lessons well-organized but never rigid, and this leaves room to go down interesting musical paths and explore different solo possibilities. He also often brings a melodica to our lessons, and it’s both fun and enriching to practice trading solos and hear Gabriel demonstrate interesting musical ideas that I can implement into my playing!

Would highly recommend, and I look forward to continue working with Gabriel in the future!

As a pianist, Gabriel is extremely talented and can perform a range of styles with grace and passion for the music. As a teacher, he's what every student should want from their teacher: he is knowledgeable, caring, kind, and always seems to know the right remedy for overcoming a specific situation. Gabriel is an incredible teacher who not only cares for his students but knows what they need to work on to take them to the next level. While working with him, I gained a deeper sense of collective melody and rhythm within an ensemble and have a greater confidence in the melodic voice of my ear. Without him I would not have been accepted into NEC's Masters in Jazz Piano Performance program and would not be the same musician I am today--highly recommend!

Gabriel is not only and amazing pianist but a thoughtful educator, studying melodic improvisation, Rhythmic proficiency and analysis of Afro Cuban music has been some of the most enriching experiences I've ever had in my musical journey, I highly recommend him as a teacher for anyone interested in jazz, jazz adjacent and contemporary music.

Gabriel is such an incredible teacher! He meets you exactly where you’re at and tailors his approach based on how you learn best. I’m personally more interested in learning to play jazz and right from the beginning he made that a priority rather than focusing on traditional classical pieces. I’ve loved taking lessons with him and recommend lessons with Gabriel for piano players at any level!

Gabriel has a unique ability to find songs and pieces that fit my skill level and interest, and yet have the continuity of the curriculum across all of them.

So he avoids the trap of having me study off of a single, published piano course (which could be generic and somewhat boring), which is what many piano teachers will do.

Other piano teachers will let you pick your favorite songs, and you will have fun but not improve.

Gabriel has a thoughtful curriculum in mind, and it is logical, progressive, custom-designed for me, with every new song building on what we already learned.

That is high quality stuff, very rare!

I’ve been taking lessons with Gabriel for several months and it’s been a great journey so far. He’s clearly a deeply experienced teacher and player who’s passionate about his craft and I’ve made solid progress in a reasonable amount of time. I especially like how he’s willing to accommodate whatever you’re most interested in learning (e.g classical, sight reading, jazz, music theory, etc.) Also, his rates are competitive and he’s flexible with scheduling hours. Highly recommended.

Gabriel is a great piano teacher. I’ve finally found someone who is willing to work with me in a way that makes sense. He’s patient, kind, and takes the time to understand what might help me work through my blind spots. I’m an adult learner with very little spare time, so it’s slow going for me, but I absolutely look forward to my lessons and what lies ahead in the weeks and months to come. I do recommend him highly.
